Hiya, it is always a delight penning down thoughts like this because it is a daily reminder that we continuously need to encourage one another.
Well, enough introduction, let us cut to the chase…
Let us go back in time to our Sunday school classes where we were taught Bible stories in the most fun ways that we can’t forget… Can you guess what today’s story is??? *Drum roll please…*
The story of the prodigal son… yeah yeah. Please see Luke 15:11-24
This was a story of a man who had two sons, and one day the younger son walked up to him and said” Father, don’t you think it’s time to give me my share of your estate?”. Luke 15:12 TPT
I can imagine what was going through the father’s mind, a whole lot I would like to think.
To cut the long story short because it was indeed a long story, the younger son squandered his lot and was reduced to a pauper, who had to eat feeds meant for pigs. Too bad this was not what his father wanted him to experience. The father wanted him to experience splendor, affluence- a lifestyle meant for royalty.
The story doesn’t end there, the young man thought to himself one day “there are many workers at my father’s house who have all the food they want with plenty to spare. They lack nothing. Why am I here dying of hunger, feeding with these pigs and eating their slop? I want to go back home to my father’s house”
In my head, I was like “the man is bold”. He just got his inheritance, left home to a faraway land, and squandered his all on frivolities most likely and the thoughts of going back to his father even crossed his mind? This just points to one thing- He knows that his father will look on him with mercy and love and I tell you the young man was right.
Oh, his dad was a loving father. It was stated that when the father sighted his son from far away, compassion welled up in his heart as he looked at his son dressed up as a beggar. The loving father raced up out to meet the son, hugged him dearly, and kissed him with tender love.
This story typifies us and our father- God. You see, the Father so loved us with an everlasting love that He has loved us even before we were formed. That is how deep His love is to us.
You might be thinking to yourself at the moment “what kind of son does this?”. But do you know that there are days when we can be that “son” when we disobey our father or neglect fellowship with him?
It might seem like you are too “dirty” to go to the father in prayer, do those amazing worship sessions in the Spirit, or maybe even read your bible and you begin to drift away slowly.
The Father’s arms are wide open and he longs to have you talk with Him and fellowship with Him. Don’t run away from His love. He knows how bad you feel and how far you have gone and He is not shy to still call you His own. He wants you to make a U-turn from the path of destruction. The devil will whisper words of doubt and condemnation when you err.It might feel like you are too “dirty” and unworthy of the Father's attention even. The Father however longs for fellowship with you. The devil will want to whisper words of doubt and condemnation to you- DO NOT LISTEN TO THE LIES. Listen to what the Father is saying to you-“Therefore since we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens- Jesus the Son of God – let us hold fast to the confession. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but One who has been tested in every way as we are yet without sin. Therefore let us approach the throne of grace with boldness, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help at the proper time”- Hebrews 4:14-16 HCSB.
Let go of the guilt, let go of the shame. The Father loves you so dearly that He rejoices over you time and time again. No matter how far you have gone, He longs to have you back home where you belong. He wants to see you get that royal treatment you deserve. Don’t be a runaway. Home beckons to you.Let go of the guilt, let go of the shame. No matter how far you have gone, Father longs to have you back home where you belong. He wants to see you get that royal treatment you deserve. Don’t be a runaway. Home beckons to you. Click To Tweet
“so I live with the confidence that there is nothing in the universe with the power to separate us from God’s love. I’m convinced that his love will triumph over death, life’s troubles, fallen angels, or dark rulers in the heavens. There is nothing in our present or future circumstances that can weaken his love. There is no power above us or beneath us- no power that could ever be found in the universe that can distance us from God’s passionate love, which is lavished upon us through our Lord Jesus, the Anointed One!”- Romans 8:38-39 TPT.
Have you been running? Are your knees feeble and your shoes worn out from running? You don’t need to run. The Father loves you and won’t condemn you. Embrace his love, run into his arms today in repentance.
