BELIEVING IS SEEING!
Not to worry, you didn’t read that wrong. Just stay with me a moment.
You must have heard the phrase “Seeing is believing”, used often to assert that reality is best judged by the physical senses. To the random person, if it cannot be seen, touched, proven by logic, or discovered scientifically, it’s probably not real and should not be relied on. Although this is true in a particular context, it is however not an absolute truth for the Believer.
You see where I’m going with this yet?
Okay, stay with me.
Upon salvation, the bible totally dictates what is true and what our stance concerning life and attendant issues should be.
The question to ask thus is : What is reality? Is reality always determined by the human senses?
In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth; that is, the physical world and the spiritual world Genesis 1:1
The Christian, being the possessor of the life of God John 3:16, and a citizen of heaven Ephesians 2:19, is designed to be both a key player on the earth, and in the spiritual realm. The Christian, being the possessor of the life of God, and a citizen of heaven, is designed to be both a key player on the earth, and in the spiritual realm. Concerning the spiritual, the writer of Hebrews stated:
By faith we understand that the universe was created by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things that are visible Hebrews 11:3.
In essence, he says the raw materials that formed the physical world, was from the Spiritual. The unseen created the seen.
How? Via words of faith. This is spiritual reality.
Jesus while addressing Martha, who had doubted that Lazarus could be raised from the dead, considering that he had been dead for four days and already stinking, said :
“Did I not tell you that if you BELIEVED, you would SEE the glory of God?” John 11:40
Did you see that? Contrary to the widely held opinion, BELIEVING IS ACTUALLY SEEING in our kingdom.
The scriptures are replete with confirmations of this truth.
In Jesus’ interaction with the disciples in Mark 11:22-24, he said:
Have faith in God. Truly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and thrown into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says will come to pass, it will be done for him.
Thus, if the believer would believe in his heart and align his words, without doubt in his heart, he will definitely have what he says.
Another profound event that gives a vivid picture of this principle is that of Thomas and Jesus, after the latter was raised from the dead.
The disciples had told Thomas they saw Jesus, but he responded:
Unless I SEE in his hands the mark of the nails, and place my finger into the mark of the nails, and place my hand into his side, I will never BELIEVE – John 20:25
Thomas was being human. Judging reality via his senses.
Jesus visiting eight days later obliged Thomas but he made a profound statement afterward:
“Have you believed because you have seen me? BLESSED ARE THOSE WHO HAVE NOT SEEN AND YET HAVE BELIEVED” – John 20:27-29
It is manifestly evident from scriptures that the pattern of our Kingdom is Faith. BELIEVING, therefore precedes Seeing. What you say in faith, is what you get.It is manifestly evident from scriptures that the pattern of our Kingdom is Faith. BELIEVING, therefore precedes Seeing. What you say in faith, is what you get. What are we to believe? God’s word as revealed in the Bible, and his words to us by His Spirit.
How do I act in faith?
- Faith comes by hearing. Get yourself to read and listen to the word concerning the situation. What has God said about it? Be convinced of God’s stance. Romans 10:17
- Faith is vocal : Ask in faith, confess the word, speak to the mountain. Pray continously, as prayer generates the necessary power.
- Faith is resilient. Don’t lose your ground. Keep at it.
- Faith obeys, even when it doesn’t make sense. Listen for instructions as you wait, and yield.
Via faith, miracles can be wrought, the impossible will become possible. By holding firmly to what God has said in His word, we will see the promises of God come to reality in our experience.
And guess what the best part about all of this is?
The Christian was forged in faith Galatians 2:20. He has the capacity to believe. The believer only needs to learn about this faith, and appropriate it.The Christian was forged in faith.
