Valentine’s Day; What’s the Fuss?

Whether you are on team God when or team God thanks or even team I don’t care, it’s another Valentine’s. Valentine’s day has quite an unclear history. But over time, everyone seems to have agreed that it’s a day when love is celebrated. And although love doesn’t exist only in romantic relationships, Val’s day celebrations mostly focus on romantic love.

One of the major questions that linger in the heart of some is “why do we need a special day to celebrate love? We should celebrate love every day.”

Although some are asking sincerely, most of the time, it’s really an excuse to not participate in the gift-giving that comes with the season. I’ll ask you one, why do we need to celebrate mother’s day or father’s day? I mean, we could do that all year.

You see, special dates are days of emphasis. They are to serve as reminders.

Concerning valentine’s, there is honestly no hard and fast rule on whether couples should celebrate it. It is completely up to every couple. You should do what works best for you and your partner.

However, most of us lead fast and busy lives and it’s easy to get sucked in by the hustle. So, whenever an opportunity presents itself to unwind, relax, and intentionally love your partner; I’ll say take it.

Remind them how much you love them, that you still love them. Be soft, be gentle.

And even if you don’t care about special dates, what matters most is if your partner cares. Because love is service. It’s not just about doing what you like and what pleases you. It is about pleasing your partner, they come first.

And you dear singlet, (sorry, single 😂) celebrate love this season with your friends. I’ll not say to love them as a preparation for the days when you’ll have a partner because life isn’t all about dating and marriage. You are alive and being in a relationship isn’t some pinnacle that every other thing points to.

And you dear singlet, (sorry, single 😂) celebrate love this season with your friends. Nurture the friendships that you have, your friends deserve to be spoilt by you. Friendship is also a commitment to love. Click To Tweet

So, love your friends because that’s what good people do. Nurture the friendships that you have, your friends deserve to be spoilt by you. Friendship is also a commitment to love.

To properly show love, you must have experienced what true love is and no display of love surpasses that of Christ. So, as we keep His love before us, we are inspired to love purely, wholly and genuinely. Click To Tweet
